Photo Update

Hey, was going to do a photo post earlier on today but was having problems with my internet connection. So, giving that it's fairly late this is gonna be a wee bit shorter than I wanted. Also tomorrow I'm going to the Zoo! And possibly going to see 'How To Train Your Dragon' in 3D (I'm soo excited about this, I haven't seen any of the new 3D movies yet!). Anyway, photos:

Went to Glasgow two weeks ago to see my Dad. I got a lift down with Dave as he was working there with his Uncle. Got to spend some time in my Dad's studio and started painting. I didn't have enough time to finish painting her though as I spent ages trying to draw her mouth and I'm still not happy with it.

It was my friend's (the guy 2nd on the right) birthday last weekend so, as usual, our place turned into party central. This was probably the best photo, the others were really blurred because we were a more-than-a-bit-squiffy! Didn't get to bed until 8am!

This is Dave's auntie's dog, Sandy. I was babysitting Dave's cousin last week so, as it was a rare sunny day, I took her and the dog along to the park. He kept barking at my camera though!

He is such a big softie! Whenever I go over he always sits next to me and puts his head on my lap ^_^

I'm trying to engage people more in my writting so from now on I will try to end my posts with some questions relating to what I've written about. If you would like to answer them, please post in the comments. Thanks!

Hey it's been a while since I last posted, but to be honest I've not been up to much. I suppose being jobless is getting me down a bit *sadface*. Anyway I would like to say a big thanks to everyone who commented on my last post, sorry I didn't take the time to return the courtesy, I will try and be a better friend from now on ^_^

Anyway as nothing has been going on in my real life, here are some links to things I have discovered around the interwebs (and yes, you have probably already heard of them):

And the colours I want are either this or this. I've had bright colours through my hair but never all over, and obviously I would bleach first. Lemme know which one you think I'd suit.

On a final note, I love Michelle Phan's make-up tutorials! I stumbled across these some months ago but went back today to see what she had added. I love all the kooky creative looks she does but I'm not very bold with my make-up. However, I wear glasses and I noticed she had done a special video about make-up for glasses! So I have decided to share it with you, enjoy (if you can get past her 'slightly' annoying voice, but she is very sweet so I'll let her off with it :3)

How cool is that lipbalm! I found it on Amazon UK but only in one flavour/scent. I guess us Brit girls will just have to deal (or pay massive shipping fees from the US!)

A Weekend in Glasgow

Been a while since I've updated but to be honest not much has been going on. Anyway last weekend me and my Mum went to Glasgow to visit my Dad. My Dad is a full time proffesional artist so I took some photos of his paintings which interested me most:

A selection of my Dad's paintings on his studio wall. I really like the one in the middle of the artist painting the forest behind him, I'm not sure if it's meant to be a self-portrait but there' definitely some resemblence.

When we came in my Dad was working on this painting. It's on his easel which is why you can see other paintings in the back.

There's a story behind this painting: my Dad was walking home late at night (you can see his flat in the background of the painting) when he spotted a fox. Instead of running away the fox stopped and starred for a little while before slinking off. My Dad said it reminded him of a painting of a wolf so I tried to find a good image of it for this post. Instead all I got was three-wolf-moon type posters.

This painting is a a bit dark. Originally there was a baby in the woman's arms but my Dad painted it out and told me she threw it over the cliff. I really like the movement in this painting, it looks like a grim stormy night, perfect for a spot of baby flinging.

To lighten things up a bit, this is one my Dad did of when he was on holiday in Thailand. I think that's supposed to be one of his friends that he went with.

And what artist studio would be complete without some animal skulls? I remember when I was a kid my Dad used to just pick up all this weird stuff to take home and use as refernces for his paintings. A bit gruesome but morbidly fascinating at the same time.

I'm hoping to go to Edinburgh during the week to visit my cousin so hopefully there will be more photos soon.

A Two Day Friends-zy and Another Lunch

It's my birthday at the end of the month so on Sunday, for an early birthday present, my boyfriend bought me the entire 10 seasons of Friends on DVD. I have been watching them pretty much constanlty since then. I'm now almost finished season two. So when I realised I had spent three days doing nothing but watching Friends I hastily went out to post some job applications I had forgotten to post a few days ago. I'm applying to work in a School Library and also for a Children's Charity. I would be happy with either job but would much rather work in the library, the charity job is only in an office. Anyway fingers crossed.

Also I have another lunch- this one it either happy or mocking

It's dark rye Ryvita with low fat mayo, baby spinach and celery. Very yum. I think I might have another...

Time for lunch

Today Dave was sent to do some real shopping and get actual fruit and veg. Now our fridge is choca-block with colour rather than the usual sprinkling of booze and slowly moulding cheese. Inspired by my recent fascination with bento I decided to make myself a small but pretty lunch:

This is no comaprison to some of the cute bentos I have seen but it was colourful and delicious. Its two pumpkin seed Ryvitas with low fat spread, cheese, baby spinach and cherry tomatoes. Also I have some satsuma segements and blueberries on the side. In my glass is some strawberry and blueberry smoothie or shake. Actually what is the difference? I don't know but it was yummy.

Lately I have been interested in cooking and making decorative food. In fact we are having a pizza and movie party tonight. I volunteered to make something so yesterday I had a crack at blending various things to make hummous. I think I put a bit too much lemon juice in but hopefully no one will notice. Plus I put some olives round the edge of the dish to make it look less like a bowl of ummm... something unedible. Ahh well at least if it's awful there will be pizza and pasta.

Now I'm off to try and find out what the difference is between smoothies and shakes...

I need to think of better titles for my posts...

Anyway I haven't felt the urge to share my boring life with anyone for a while but today something gripped me; I felt the urge to doodle and photograph and then write about it and show off to people! But enough of that, here is a quick breakdown of my Comfort Zone and what it says about me:

The Big Picture: My life encompassed

Yup this is it- the headquaters of gigglebox industries. I have four points of interest- laptop, doodles, books and cat. Note: Yes my latop is on a plastic crate, this is to stop it from over heating.

1. Laptop

Ahh the gateway to the information highway and social shutdown- my laptop. Today I have decided to jazz it up with some pretty (yet unesscesary) usb lights. As you can *ahem* clearly see on my screen there is LiveMessenger and a cool arsty site. Also I have my Skullcandy earphones plugged in and waiting. So what does all this say about me? The lights show that I am a bright person who takes the mundane and makes it beautiful. Ok no it doesn't, I just like pretty sparkly objects. Having my LiveMessenger on shows that although I'm not actually spending time with my friends, they are still important to me and I make sure that they know it. Well, no. I'm actually pretending to be offline so that no one will bother me. The artsy site represents how I am part of the cool artistic internet scene. Well actually, as you know, I'm not, I just wish I was. I'm just stealing ideas from this site (joke). And those earphones? They show how I'm part of the highly fashionable modern times and that I like music. Of course not! These were a present, I would never know to buy something so trendy. I do like music though.

2. Doodles

Here we have the first drawings I've done in almost a year. They are kind of cartoony and cutsey. I have drawn two girls- one pretty and sweet, one punky but cute. Also there is a teddy bear, a cupcake, a cup of coffee and a cakestand (not an alien communication satellite). So why have I chosen to draw these things? I obviously have amazing artistic talent and an ability to capture everything that makes up the human soul. With these meaningful pieces I am making important statements about love and hate, war and peace, the rich and the poor.. the list goes on. Ok so I'm no artist, I just stumbled across t his site and it inspired me to do some cartoony drawings of my own. Also there is absolutely no reason that I drew any of these things, they just popped into my head.

3. Books

What is this thing of paper and strange symbols? It's almost like an ebook, except I can't work out how to put it on my iphone... oh my god! It's an actual book! I haven't seen one of these is years! Ok I will try and limit my sarcasm. So here we have three books- one trashy chiller, and two cookbooks. The chiller represents my dark side, I have a wicked and tortured soul and take great delight in reading about killer rats (no joke, that is the plot). Alright, not really, there's no way I can convince anyone I'm a tortured soul after you've seen the cupcake doodle and starry fairylights. This book was recomended to me by my boyfriend (surprise surprise) who thought I'd enjoy. Actually its quite well written, if alarmingly ridiculous. Anyway the other two books are cookery books- one on meat recipes and one on veggie. Ok no sarcasm there is a very simple reason for these books- I'm making my boyfriend dinner on valentine's day. I need the books because I have absolutely no idea how to cook anything (which is why my boyfriend does all the cooking (which is why me doing it is his valentine's present.)) Just in case he is reading - Dave, Don't Panic! I'm not going to cook you meat, I just need ideas and general cooking knowledge- by the way in case you didn't guess from that, he is vegeterian.

and finally 4. Cat

Because everyone needs an evil minion right? Shame I caught her mid lick, it makes her look a little more 'special' than usual.

Yay! I'm so excited it's nearly xmas. I've started to feel full o' joy and xmas cheer. Spent all yesterday decorating my living room, well I use the term decorating lightly- we have sellotaped lights all round the room. When I get my camera I can show you, there's nothing that says xmas more than some half working fairy lights strung round a fear and loathing poster! Also there are some paper snowflakes sellotaped to the window. Anyways, as I decorated the living room *fabulously* I decided to spread the festivity to my blog too. I'm not too happy with the header but it is much better than my first attempt to make an xmas layout. Anyway, here are some cute photos I found while searching for xmas inspiration:

Ack I have trouble sleeping. Anyway this is supposed to be a photo blog so here is a photo:
This photo was taken on the beach at carnoustie in August this year when we went on holiday in my mum's caravan. Exotic, I know. Anyway I was messing about with it in photoshop when I came up with this. I think it looks like an album cover haha. Just me? Ok...
